In that time, I have enjoyed working in a broad variety of settings such as a therapeutic group home for severely emotionally disturbed adolescents, sexual assault therapist for Fairfax County's domestic violence and sexual assault services, student counseling center at George Mason University and non-profit and private practice settings including the Women's Center in Fairfax County. It takes courage to recognize you need therapy and to pursue it. Making this difficult and challenging choice alone is worthy of respect, and I welcome every client who has done so by seeking my help. My aim is to make therapy a safe space built on a foundation of trust, where you can express your feelings openly and we work together to develop solutions to address the issues standing in your way.
I use an evidence based-cognitive therapy approach which includes techniques to teach you how to assess your thought patterns, understand how they influence your emotions and recognize that these thoughts and feelings ultimately affect your behavior. Understanding these patterns and developing tools including mindfulness and self compassion will help you regain control over your life when you feel like you have none.
I have been certified in traumatic grief counseling from the Wendt Center of Washington D.C
I have advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT),Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and self compassion based therapy.
